Common Leopard butterfly (Phalanta phalantha)

English:    Common Leopard
Scientific: Phalanta phalantha

Can be seen in all regions of Sri Lanka. Apart from Sri Lanka this butterfly has been widely distributed in  Bangladesh,India,China and even African countries. It is a sun loving butterfly belongs to Nymphalidae family. It's Male and female looks similar.

  1. Nice introduction. But can i know if it is invasive to forest trees species? If yes, to what extent? I'm a forester of Mauritius Island and i'm a bit worried about the little native forest left. Thanks to reply!
